Members of the Lincoln First United Methodist Church choir will sing on November 27 at New York City’s Carnegie Hall. Eleven members from the Lincoln church and two from the Ellsworth United Methodist Church will join over two-hundred other singers from around the country in this concert produced by Distinguished Concerts International New York (DCINY).
The invitation came from DCINY’s Artistic Director and Principal Conductor, Dr. Jonathan Griffith, after discovering a video of the Lincoln choir’s recent Christmas concert on YouTube. Dr. Griffith stated: “The Choir from First United Methodist Church of Lincoln received this invitation because of the quality and high level of musicianship demonstrated by the singers as well as the exceptional quality of their audition recording. It is quite an honor just to be invited to perform in New York. These wonderful musicians not only represent a high quality of music and education, but they also become ambassadors for the entire community.”

The singers will spend 5 days and 4 nights in New York City in preparation for their concert which will feature “Christmas Dreams,” a cantata written by Joseph Martin and Heather Sorenson.
DCINY's concerts are supported by the performers themselves, meaning that each participant pays a registration fee to rehearse and sing at Carnegie Hall. In addition to that substantial expense, there are the costs associated with transportation and lodging.
Estimated Travel Expenses: $10,000
Roundtrip Bus/Train Tickets from Bangor to NYC: $2,500
Additional Ground Transportation: $500
4-Nights Lodging in NYC: $7,000
Our goal is to raise this amount with local fundraisers and through the generosity of friends, family, and community members like you. Information on upcoming events and ways to contribute can be found to the left.

Thank you in advance for any support you can give to our small church choir. We are grateful for you and your willingness to help make this dream come true. God bless you!
